They're guessing its the 5th gen but I'm kinda doubting it. Unless they announce it as a twin game like Gold/Silver. But its handled by Gamefreak which is kinda hoping. We'll just see in the future.
New Gameplay sounds like a spin-off game.
New Pokemon - perhaps a glimpse for the 5th gen.
New Adventure ( I hope its not another dungeon/ranger game) |

That'r much confirms it I guess. Never saw this coming ( I really thought I would need to save for a new handheld for 5th gen). Oddly enough we are not yet blessed with the new pokemon on any media (I was hoping a 5th gen pokemon in the anime to appear).
The new gameplay concept should be its backbone since will be likely receive slight graphics update since it will be on same handheld. Still I have to replay Heart gold this march so this game can wait. |

If its a new canon RPG, I hope it would somewhere in between the regions. There's still that huge distance between Hoenn and Sinnoh and the first two regions. |

i'm not exactly quivering with anticipation here, as more than 10 years of playing the Pokemon series have taught me one thing: "new" in Pokemon parlance just means "more of the same thing" + 100 new Pokemon.
and please, quit it with those annoying legendaries already--they're just creating legendaries that seem to serve no purpose at all than to outdo one another in terms of over-the-top ridiculousness in power levels. are they planning to create something even more powerful than arceus now? maybe a planet-sized Pokemon? heh.
with nintendo's penchant for creating attachments or devices that are pretty much useless for any other game (n64 game transfer pak or n64 microphone, anyone?), my guess is that the new game will have some kind of Pokemon Snap-ish feature that will use the DSi camera, using some augmented reality concept already seen in games on most mobile devices.
i just wish they'd get rid of the tiresome i-want-to-be-the-best-trainer-in-the-whole-damn-world scenario with the 8 gyms and their equally tiresome gym leaders, and replace it with something else, a save the world plot or something of epic proportions similar to most japanese RPGs. and why should Pokemon be limited to battling only other Pokemon? let them battle humans or giant robots or the Elder Gods or anything else, as long as they're not other Pokemon. if they manage to do that, then this could really be the start of something new. |

Sadly to say if they do that then it would not be Pokemon anymore. Yeah you get a 100+ new pokemon, a new region same or slightly changed storyline 8 gyms , an evil org and the Pokemon League to beat. That's what defines pokemon games. It will be its core even years to come. Its actually getting stale but what keeps it alive is he multiplayer function. |

yup, i see what you mean...but they can expand the gameplay further by making the lead character choose their own path. they can introduce some kind of job system, where the player gets to choose what kind of "job" he or she wants--trainer, coordinator, breeder, gym leader, watcher, ranger, etc.
depending on whatever profession the character selects, the storyline starts from there and branches out accordingly, yet everything still fits within a main plotline. |

@ gamezter: Yeah, it will be fun but imagine kung yung pokemon ranger kailangang labanan yung gym leader para mag-proceed sa storyline? or worse kung pokemon watcher vs. pokemon league? I think its not right.. Lets leave the game as having a main player as pokemon master wanna-be by defeating the gym leaders and beating the pokemon league and battle frontier because that's what the main pokemon rpg games are about..
I think what nintendo and gamefreak should do is to make us customize our main player.. And kahit yung style gawin nilang katulad sa D/P/Pt/HG/SS Versions pero gawin nilang 3D yung pokemon and battle animations mas okay sana..
I think gagamit sila ng mas malaking memory sa cartridge slot sa 5th gen. games sa DS kasi last year nag-hire sila ng 3d game developer but I doubt na gagawin nilang full 3D yung game because Masuda already mentions that as much as possible, they want to stick to the past pokemon games' concept and style when it comes to nintendo handhelds' pokemon games.. |

LOL, that's not what i meant...
what i meant was for the storylines to branch out accordingly to correspond with whatever profession your character chooses. for example, if your character chooses to be a gym leader, your story begins in your own gym, where you earn exp by defeating upstart trainers or other gym leaders, then progresses to the point where you'll eventually meet the other characters and you'll join up together to defeat the Big Bad.
if your character starts as a coordinator, then you'll have to earn exp by joining contests and battling with the occasional trainer, then progresses to the point where you'll eventually meet the other characters and you'll join up together to defeat the Big Bad, and so on...
many paths, with many solutions depending on your skills, all leading to a confrontation with the Big Bad, who doesn't have to be the Elite Four or Champion this time. |

@gamezter Well it sounds like final fantasy to me, but I would like to see that sort of thing in a pokemon game. I always thought that Pokemon would do a fine MMORPG but its not like nintendo would want that. Actually you can choose which ever kind of trainer you want to be the only thing is you still get the same character.. I guess I just want the trainer selection to be customizable (even just the outfit) so it would reflect to what trainer you want to be. |

@Elxar: be great if that happens, huh? but i guess i'm expecting too much--this is Nintendo after all, and they don't really like to change things much.
@M E W: you're right, it does look fake--it's too "clean", and the illustrations don't quite have that Sugimori touch.
hopefully, they'll give us more new types like a dolphin Pokemon, or evolved and pre-evolution forms for the likes of Tauros or Kangaskhan--although i think i'm one of a handful of people who still think that Cubone is actually Kangaskhan's baby |

If its a main RPG, there's a big chance it would have 'similar' graphics. Kinda disappointed with Zorua/Zoruark. |
